Using This Resource
This resource is aligned to the Australian Curriculum: English for Year 7 students. The module is designed to introduce students to a variety of texts on the theme of cultural perspectives and to enable them to understand how authors, poets and cartoonists reflect their own cultural perspectives through their chosen medium. The resource gives teachers flexibility and develops students’ inquiry-based learning skills by exploring how to effectively interpret, analyse and evaluate cultural perspectives through a range of activities.
The highlight of this resource is the selection of sources from the National Library of Australia’s collection. The student activities explore the sources and cater for a variety of classroom contexts and learning styles. This resource is designed to meet cross-curriculum priorities, enabling students to increase their knowledge and to develop their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.
