Join us these school holidays for a creative writing workshop with author Sarah Luke.
Sarah’s new NLA Publishing title, Marion and the Forty Thieves takes you aboard the Sobraon, a magnificent floating boys’ school that once existed in Sydney. Follow along to learn how to create the hook to your story and write a climactic scene for your character using historical images.
This workshop is targeted at children aged 10 to 12 years of age, and bookings are essential. All writing material will be supplied.
While parents and guardians are welcome to stay and watch, each person who will be participating in this workshop will require a ticket.
This activity is also available to book into on Friday 19 July 2024, 10am to 11:30am.
About Sarah Luke
Sarah Luke is a teacher and historian. She likes researching in archives, finding information about people from the past and writing non-fiction books about them. At other times she is inspired to write historical fiction stories, so that people who merely ghost through archives also have a chance to be remembered. Sarah likes exploring old places in Sydney—particularly sandstone palaces and mossy, dark graveyards. Marion and the Forty Thieves is her first children’s book.
