Be illuminated at the National Library this March. Highlights include our late-night family activities and food stalls during the Enlighten Festival, the annual Canberra Day Oration and a talk from one of our 2023 Creative Arts Fellows.

- Enlighten after hours activities at the Library
Friday and Saturday 1-2 and 8-9 March | 5.30pm to 9.30pm | Free
Our Enlighten Festival community picnic is back in 2024. Once again, we're extending our opening hours on the Friday and Saturday evenings between 1 and 11 March. There will be free activities for all ages running on our Podium and in our Foyer, including events with local children’s authors Kathy Weeden, Stephanie Owen Reeder and Larry Brandy. We will also have international food vendors to tempt your tastebuds!
- Canberra Day Oration 2024: Dr Mat Trinca
Tuesday 12 March | 12.00pm to 1.00pm | Free
Dr Mat Trinca AM FAHA will deliver the 2024 address, Representing Nation in the National Capital: The National Museum of Australia and Canberra. This event is presented in partnership with the Canberra & District Historical Society.
- Palapala: A story of reading, writing and books with Dr Christina Thompson
Tuesday 26 March | 12.30pm to 1.30pm | Free
Dr Christina Thompson will present a lecture on her 2023 Creative Arts Fellowship research into what happened when writing arrived on the islands of the Pacific.
